Experience Liberty through the eyes of artists during the Third Annual Liberty Plein Air. Throughout this three-day event, artists will paint outdoors, capturing the landscapes, architecture, parks, neighborhoods, and unique character of Liberty in real time.
"Plein Air" is a French term meaning "open air." Rather than working in a studio, artists create their paintings on location, allowing them to capture the light, atmosphere, and energy of a place as it unfolds before them.
Visitors are encouraged to explore Liberty throughout the event, meet the artists, watch paintings develop from blank canvas to finished artwork, and learn more about the creative process. Watching a plein air painter at work is like seeing a story emerge one brushstroke at a time.
The event concludes on Saturday, October 3rd with a public Awards Reception and Art Sale at The Artisan Market, 118 N Main Street, Liberty, Missouri. Beginning at 5:00 PM, guests can enjoy refreshments, meet the artists, view the completed paintings, celebrate award winners, and purchase original artwork inspired by Liberty.
Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.
Artists interested in participating are encouraged to register early. Additional event details, painting locations, sponsors, awards, and activities will be announced as they are confirmed.
